Beginning of farming shrimp harvest in Bushehr

The Deputy Minister of Aquaculture of Bushehr Province in Iran said: “Due to the temperature changes and its decreasing trend, it is recommended that the shrimp harvest be accelerated.”

Bushehr province has ever-evolving capacities in shrimp farming. This region has a significant part of the production of farmed shrimp in the country.

She pointed out that in 2020, 23,000 tons of shrimp, including Vannemai shrimp, were produced in Bushehr province. Farmed shrimp production in Bushehr, Iran, is expected to reach 30,000 tons by the end of this year. During the past 6 months, 11,000 tons of shrimp have been produced, and the harvest of farmed shrimp continues.

Packing and processing operations are usually carried out on the same shrimp farms in Bushehr, Iran. It is recommended to harvest shrimps that have reached market size as soon as possible to avoid work traffic in processing centres.

Considering Bushehr’s processing capacity of one thousand tons per day, there is no need to worry about the lack of space. And soon, the renewed centres will enter shrimp production.
